Traditional beliefs say the way a broom is stored may influence peace and prosperity in the house.

In many Indian households, a broom is not seen only as a cleaning tool. According to Vastu Shastra, it is also linked with Goddess Lakshmi, and certain customs are followed to maintain positivity and stability at home.

Vastu suggests that buying a new broom on Wednesday or Friday is considered auspicious, as these days are traditionally associated with Lakshmi and Kubera.

Similarly, if the broom becomes old or damaged, it is advised to discard it on Saturday, which is believed to help remove negativity from the home.

When it comes to storage, Vastu recommends keeping the broom horizontally and not leaving it standing against a wall. It is also considered important not to keep it upside down, as traditional belief connects improper placement with household tension.

Direction also matters in these practices. The broom is usually kept in the South or West part of the house, while the North-East corner is avoided because it is treated as a sacred space in Vastu.

Another commonly mentioned practice is to keep the broom out of direct sight, rather than leaving it openly visible to visitors.
