Violence strikes Pune during Ganesh Festival; one injured in shooting
Pune witnessed yet another act of violence in broad daylight in Inamdar Wasti, Uruli Kanchan. As per information, a person identified as Bapu Shitole allegedly opened fire at three to four individuals, injuring one. The victim, identified as Kaluram Gote, was shot multiple times and is currently admitted to a hospital. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far till the report was filed.
As per reports, the shooting reportedly stemmed from a financial disagreement between Shitole and Gote. The police have apprehended the accused and are now investigating the details of the financial dispute. A case is also filed against the accused. The incident has created a sense of panic among the citizens in the area.
Just recently, shots were fired at a casual gathering at Rahul Bar and Khushboo Hotel which involved former corporator Vinod Jaywant Nadhe from Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction. Vinod Nadhe, who carries a pistol for personal protection, was at a bar with his cousin Sachin and a few friends when an alarming incident occurred. During a phone call with his uncle, who advised him to stay cautious, Vinod assured him that he had his pistol for safety.
In a careless act, Sachin, who had overheard the conversation, questioned whether Vinod actually had a gun. Playfully, Sachin took possession of the pistol, loaded it, and fired a shot into a wall. This reckless behavior has highlighted serious issues regarding firearm safety and responsibility.
The rise in firing incidents in Pune has raised concerns among the people. In the beginning of September, there was a shooting in Nana Peth targeting Vanraj Andekar. After surviving the shooting, Andekar was brutally murdered with a sharp weapon. The investigation revealed that the murder was the result of a family dispute and a struggle for dominance. The incident, which occurred just before Ganesh Chaturthi, had caused quite a stir. Now, another shooting incident has occurred, further escalating concerns in the city.
