Fire Breaks Out at Omega Paradise Society in Wakad, Pune
Pune, September 14, 2024: A fire broke out on the 5th floor of F Wing at Omega Paradise Society in Wakad on Saturday night, causing panic among residents. The blaze, which started around 10:30 p.m., reportedly originated in an apartment.
Local fire services responded promptly, dispatching two fire engines to the scene. While the fire was contained within an hour, significant damage occurred to the affected apartment. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, as residents were swiftly evacuated.
Residents commended the quick action of the emergency services, but expressed concerns about fire safety measures in the building.
The society committee stated that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit and was successfully contained using the society’s fire extinguisher equipment. “Our fire-fighting systems are up to date, and we conduct regular fire safety checks to ensure the safety of our residents,” the committee assured.
Fire officials have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident. Authorities have urged housing societies to ensure regular maintenance of electrical systems to prevent such incidents in the future.
