Viral video raises concerns about food preparation on Indian Railways
A disturbing video has recently gone viral, showing the unsanitary preparation of food at an Indian railway station. The video, which first surfaced on August 13, depicts a troubling scene involving the preparation of food items such as vada pav and samosas, typically served to passengers traveling on local and long-distance trains.
In the footage, two individuals are seen at night near the railway tracks, with several cooking vessels around them. One of the men is observed mashing potatoes with his feet, directly inside a cooking pot, and without using any utensils or gloves. The other individual appears to be acting as a lookout. The video was recorded covertly by passersby who happened to witness the incident.
The video, which has been widely shared on social media, was posted on the Instagram account @gktrickindia and comes with a caption urging travelers to “Carry food from home while traveling by train… otherwise watch this video.”
The clip has sparked a wave of reactions online. Many viewers have expressed outrage and concern about the hygiene practices involved in preparing food for train passengers. In contrast, some users are advising others to avoid consuming food provided by railway vendors and canteens during their journeys.
