Ahead of the pran-pratishtha ceremony of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, social media was flooded with videos depicting “communal tension” in Mumbai’s Mira Road.

Five people have been arrested in relation to an incident that was reported on Sunday night, according to the police. On Monday morning, there was a flag march in the area, and everything was peaceful.

As per further information from the X handle of a user Ghar Ke Kalesh, “Mobs go on rampage and have attacked a Hindu procession, in Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde’s home district Thane’s Mira Road. The violent mob could be seen stone pelting and vandalizing the properties, and abusing Hindus.”

(Pune Pulse couldn’t verify the authenticity of the incident while reporting as it is just a viral video.)

The cars are seen being attacked in the middle of the road in videos of the incident that went viral prior to the pran-pratishtha ceremony. The assailants hurled abuses and shattered glasses.

Slogans were chanted from three or four vehicles having Lord Ram flags, according to a senior police official.

With some, an argument broke out. When the police arrived on the scene, they saw that things were getting worse and arrested a few people. It was a small altercation that turned violent after an argument, not acts of communal violence. The police have appealed to the public not to believe any rumours.
