Pune, October 25 : With the aim to challenge traditional boundaries and redefine the future of storytelling through the lens of technology, the Goethe Institute is all set to hold ‘VROOOM – The VR Film Festival’ in the city. Techno geeks can now look forward to this innovative fiesta that will offer them the experience of a VR headset to enjoy the creativity of the films. 

The VR Film Festival will take place from 28th October to 3rd October at The Base, Erandwane between 10 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm.

This unique Film Festival will showcase the work of some of the most innovative filmmakers across the world, who have utilized the power of Virtual Reality and 360 Filmmaking to convey powerful narratives. Through this VR Film Festival, technology and movie buffs will get an opportunity to delve into cinematic innovations, wherein traditional limitations are reimagined while looking at technology as a medium for storytelling.

The festival’s 15 carefully selected films are grouped into four thematic sections ‘Uncertain Times’, ‘Fresh Perspectives’, ‘Imagined Realities’ and ‘Missing Pictures’, each offering a unique perspective on the transformative potential of Virtual Reality and 360 Filmmaking. 

Among these four thematic varieties, films like ‘Child of Empire’ and ‘You Destroy. We Create’ regarding politically and socially relevant stories featuring thought-provoking ideas, ‘Kindred’ and ‘The Choice’ crafted by inspirational female and non-binary artists to challenge gender stereotyping, imaginative films like ‘Midnight Story’ and ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ to explore animation and painting in a new digital age allowing artists to create captivating non-linear stories and interactive environments, an immersive documentary series ‘Missing Pictures’ that bridges the gap between traditional 2D and VR Storytelling including episodes like ‘Birds of Prey,’ ‘The Seven-Story Building’ etc. will be screened at this VR Film Festival.
