Maha Natyalaya celebrated the auspicious occasion of Dusshera with an event called “Natyasamarpanam,” which witnessed the gathering of 500 enthusiastic participants and spectators. This enchanting evening commenced with a traditional Pooja performed by the academy’s students, accompanied by the recitation of shlokas and captivating Bharatanatyam performances. Maha Natyalaya Bharatanatyam Dance Academy, located in Balewadi, Pune, was established by Dr. Mahalakshmi Krishnamurthy, a devoted student of Guru Smt. Mythili Raghavan. Dr. Mahalakshmi Krishnamurthy is known for her Kalakshetra-style Bharatanatyam teachings.

The performers, aged between 6 to 20 years, took the audience on a divine journey, portraying the essence of various mythological stories of Gods through their dance. The young and talented dancers began with an elegant rendition of the Ashtalakshmi stotram, showcasing their devotion and dedication to the art.

The evening’s highlights included mesmerizing jugalbandhi performances, the soul-stirring Shiva stuti, and a delightful conversation between Krishna and Yashoda. The dancers displayed remarkable synchronization and discipline, reflecting their hard work and unwavering commitment to their art.

One notable moment during the program was when the music briefly stopped for the beginners’ dance group. However, the young dancers, undeterred, continued to dance with unwavering dedication, singing the song themselves and staying perfectly in tune with the rhythm.
