Pimpri-Chinchwad, March 30, 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has recorded a significant milestone in property tax collection, crossing ₹900 crore during the current financial year (April 1, 2025 to March 29, 2026). With only two days remaining for the financial year to end, the civic body has urged pending taxpayers to clear their dues and take advantage of the ongoing Abhay Scheme.

Officials attributed the strong collection performance to systematic planning by the Tax Assessment and Collection Department, along with the availability of both online and offline payment facilities. Mayor Ravi Landge expressed gratitude to citizens for their positive response and timely tax payments.

Under the Abhay Scheme, implemented from March 1 to March 31, 2026, defaulters are offered up to 90% waiver on late payment penalties if they clear their dues in a single payment. With the deadline approaching, authorities have called it a final opportunity for citizens to benefit from the scheme. Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar appealed to defaulters to pay their pending taxes without delay.

The city currently has around 7.32 lakh registered properties, out of which 5,86,876 property owners have already paid their taxes. Officials noted a steady increase in tax compliance, reflecting growing awareness among citizens.

At the same time, the civic body has taken a strict stance against defaulters. Recovery actions have begun, including the seizure of non-residential and industrial properties, and disconnection of water supply for residential defaulters.

A special recovery drive is also underway across 18 ward offices, where officials and staff are directly visiting defaulters to encourage tax payments.

Wakad Tops Collection List

Among all ward offices, Wakad recorded the highest property tax collection, contributing ₹110.42 crore during the current financial year. Other major contributions include Thergaon (₹92.48 crore), Chikhali (₹79.56 crore), Kiwale (₹62.58 crore), Bhosari (₹60.30 crore), Moshi (₹59.10 crore), and Chinchwad (₹56.82 crore), among others.

Official Say

Mayor Ravi Landge stated that the encouraging response from citizens is a matter of pride for the civic body, adding that property tax plays a crucial role in strengthening infrastructure, roads, water supply, and sanitation services across the city.

PCMC Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi emphasized that multiple measures have been implemented to make tax collection more transparent, accessible, and citizen-friendly. He added that the Abhay Scheme has proven highly beneficial for defaulters and urged all citizens to utilise the scheme and contribute to the city’s overall development.
