Samsung’s new flagship brings a tablet-sized screen, Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and a titanium hinge system.

Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold, its first smartphone that folds in three sections, marking a major step in the company’s foldable portfolio. When fully opened, the device expands into a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display—offering users a tablet-like experience in a pocket-sized form.

The phone will go on sale in South Korea from December 12, with a global rollout planned for markets including China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the US soon after. Samsung has not yet announced pricing.

At its core, the Galaxy Z TriFold runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, built on a 3nm process. The processor is paired with 16GB RAM and up to 1TB of storage, positioning the device as a performance-heavy foldable aimed at professional users and multitaskers.

Its main 10-inch display offers QXGA+ resolution, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 1600 nits brightness. On the outside, a 6.5-inch FHD+ cover screen—also 120Hz and protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2—functions as a conventional smartphone display when folded.

Samsung has focused heavily on durability in this new form factor. The Galaxy Z TriFold uses a titanium hinge housing and an advanced Armor Aluminum frame. Its dual-rail internal structure and two hinge sizes are designed to reduce stress on the panel and ensure smoother folding. The phone is also rated IP48, offering basic protection against dust and splashes.

On the camera front, Samsung has equipped the device with a 200MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto camera capable of 30x digital zoom. Both the cover display and the inner display house a 10MP front camera each.

Power comes from a 5600mAh battery supporting 45W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Connectivity features include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB Type-C. The Galaxy Z TriFold will launch in a single finish called Crafted Black, with hands-on demos available at select Samsung stores worldwide.
