Mumbai | December 24: A fresh spell of cold weather is set to intensify across Maharashtra, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an alert as minimum temperatures continue to fall in several regions of the state. Niphad in Nashik district has recorded a low of 7 degrees Celsius, while North Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha are experiencing a sharp increase in cold conditions.

According to the IMD, the dip in temperatures is likely to persist on December 25, with cold-favourable atmospheric conditions prevailing across the state. Despite minor fluctuations in daytime temperatures, early mornings are expected to remain particularly cold, accompanied by fog in several areas.

Mumbai and Konkan Weather Update

Mumbai has witnessed a marginal drop in temperatures. On December 25, the city’s maximum temperature is likely to hover around 33°C, while the minimum may settle near 20°C. Clear skies are expected throughout the day, though a noticeable chill will be felt during the early morning hours. Similar weather conditions are forecast across most parts of the Konkan region.

Western Maharashtra

Cold conditions continue to dominate Western Maharashtra. Pune is expected to record a maximum temperature of 30°C and a minimum of around 9°C on December 25. Morning fog is likely, adding to the chill and reducing visibility in some areas. Neighbouring cities in the region are also experiencing persistent cold weather.

Marathwada

Marathwada remains under the influence of cold conditions. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is forecast to see a maximum temperature of 29°C and a minimum of 12°C. While mornings will be cold, skies are expected to remain clear during the day. No major change in temperatures is anticipated across other parts of Marathwada.

North Maharashtra

North Maharashtra is witnessing a more intense cold spell. Nashik is expected to record a maximum of 28°C and a minimum of 10°C on December 25. In parts of Ahilyanagar district, minimum temperatures have dropped below 10°C, while Jalgaon has also reported temperatures in the single digits.

Vidarbha

Cold conditions persist in Vidarbha as well. Nagpur is likely to record a maximum temperature of 28°C and a minimum of around 11°C. The region will largely experience clear skies, with cold mornings followed by mild sunshine in the afternoon.

Advisory for Citizens

With temperatures remaining low across Maharashtra, authorities have urged citizens to take necessary precautions. People are advised to wear warm clothing, avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during early mornings and late nights, and take special care of senior citizens, children and those with health conditions as the cold wave continues to affect the state.
