Maharashtra, December 26: Maharashtra is witnessing a sharp increase in cold conditions towards the end of December, with minimum temperatures dipping below 10 degrees Celsius in several districts, prompting a weather alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Despite minor fluctuations, weather conditions across the state continue to favour a cold wave. Morning chill has intensified, and dense fog has been reported in many areas. Ahilyanagar, Nashik and Gondia have recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C, while Niphad in Nashik district registered the lowest temperature in the state at 7°C.

In Mumbai, a slight dip in temperatures is being felt. On December 27, the city is expected to record a maximum temperature of 33°C and a minimum of 18°C. The sky will remain clear throughout the day, with cooler conditions during early mornings and nights. Similar weather is expected across most parts of the Konkan region.

Western Maharashtra continues to experience cold conditions. Pune is likely to record a maximum temperature of 28°C and a minimum of 10°C, with fog expected in the morning hours. Motorists have been advised to exercise caution.

Cold conditions persist across Marathwada, Vidarbha and North Maharashtra, with IMD issuing cold wave alerts for select regions. The department has indicated that cold weather will continue over the next few days. Citizens are advised to take precautions, wear warm clothing, and avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during early morning and night hours.
