Maharashtra Weather Alert: As December draws to a close, significant changes in weather conditions are likely across Maharashtra. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a shift in wind patterns could impact the state’s weather in the coming days. Here is the detailed weather update for Sunday and the days ahead.
On Sunday, most parts of Maharashtra are expected to witness predominantly dry weather. However, a severe cold wave will continue to grip large parts of the state. Bone-chilling cold conditions are likely to prevail in interior Marathwada, Vidarbha, and western Maharashtra, including Pune. North Maharashtra is also expected to experience persistent cold conditions. Let us take a detailed look at how the weather is expected to unfold across different regions of the state on Sunday.
Maharashtra is currently experiencing a widespread cold wave. Except for Mumbai and the Konkan region, minimum temperatures across most divisions of the state are hovering around 10 degrees Celsius. In Mumbai, dry weather will prevail on Sunday, with the maximum temperature expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 18 degrees Celsius.
In Pune district, the intensity of cold is expected to remain high. Pune recorded a minimum temperature of around 10 degrees Celsius. In Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and Solapur districts, minimum temperatures are likely to drop further and remain between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius.
Cold conditions will continue in Nashik, while Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar may witness a slight easing of the chill. However, severe cold is expected to persist in Ahilyanagar. In Nashik and Ahilyanagar districts, minimum temperatures are likely to remain around 11 degrees Celsius.
Marathwada will also continue to experience biting cold conditions. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is expected to record a minimum temperature of around 11 degrees Celsius, while Nanded may see minimum temperatures near 12 degrees Celsius. A drop in maximum temperatures has also been recorded across Marathwada, resulting in a noticeable chill even during afternoon hours.
In Vidarbha, the mercury has dipped significantly, creating cold wave-like conditions. Nagpur is expected to record a minimum temperature of around 10 degrees Celsius, while Amravati may see temperatures drop to nearly 11 degrees Celsius.
Overall, cold conditions will continue to dominate Maharashtra’s weather. According to the IMD, there is unlikely to be any major fluctuation in temperatures over the next four to five days, meaning the chill is here to stay. As December comes to an end, citizens are advised to take necessary health precautions to protect themselves from the persistent cold.
