The monsoon forecast for this year predicts normal conditions across the country, with Skymet Weather forecasting average rainfall between June and September. They anticipate a 102 percent monsoon disturbance, indicating fertility-friendly conditions with 5 percent above the average margin.

The Meteorological Department defines rainfall between 96 to 104 percent as above average or normal, ideal for agriculture and mitigating water scarcity. The average rainfall during these months is 868.6 mm.

Skymet Weather forecasts good rainfall in 23 states, including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat. However, only eight states, such as Assam, are expected to receive less rainfall than average, including Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Meghalaya. The shortfall is anticipated mainly in June and July, with conditions expected to normalize later in the season.
This follows Skymet’s earlier prediction on January 12 of a normal monsoon. The forecast suggests that regions experiencing initial dry spells may witness later normalization in rainfall patterns.

Overall, the outlook for the monsoon season is optimistic, with expectations of adequate rainfall benefiting agriculture and alleviating water shortages.
