Weather Update: Maharashtra may experience less than average rainfall this monsoon
As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) official report on this year’s monsoon, it is predicted that the country will receive 96 per cent (+/- 5 per cent) of the average rainfall.
The report released by the IMD also warns of the adverse eeffects that may be caused by the ‘El Nino’ in the second half of the monsoon season which further reduces rainfall and creates possibility of less-than-average rainfall in Maharashtra.
The state presently ia experiencing rains and hailstorms at many places affecting the crops. Both excess and below average rainfall will greatly affect the Agricultural sector in the country.
