The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pune today, as the city continues to grapple with incessant rainfall. Over the past few days, Pune has experienced heavy downpours leading to severe disruptions and tragic incidents. As per IMD forecasts, Pune is expected to witness moderate to heavy rain with a cloudy sky throughout the day on Saturday, July 27. The maximum temperature will hover around 27 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to be 22 degrees Celsius.

In the last 24 hours alone, Pune recorded a substantial rainfall of 56.2mm with the relative humidity remaining high at 89 percent. The relentless showers have already claimed lives and inundated low-lying areas, prompting the IMD to issue alerts across Maharashtra. Earlier this week, heavy rains resulted in at least four fatalities in Pune, compelling authorities to declare a red alert and shut down educational institutions across the city on both July 25 and 26.

Efforts by the fire brigade and disaster management teams of the Pune Municipal Corporation have been underway to rescue residents stranded in affected areas. The situation remains critical as the IMD forecasts persistent rainfall in Pune and neighboring regions for the coming week. Notably, several districts including Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Yavatmal, Nanded, Akola, and Washim have also been placed under a alert due to expected heavy rains.

Furthermore, areas like Chandrapur, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Raigad, and Ratnagiri have been issued an orange alert, indicating even more severe weather conditions.
