Weather Update: Pune Shivers as Temperature Drops to Season’s Lowest: Shivajinagar at 9.9°C, NDA at 8.9°C
Pune experienced its chilliest morning of the season on Wednesday, with the temperature plunging to 9.9°C in Shivajinagar, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This was a notable dip from Tuesday’s low of 10.9°C.
The IMD explained that the drop in temperature was caused by northerly and northwesterly winds, coupled with clear skies, which accelerate ground cooling during nighttime.
While the Shivajinagar station recorded 9.9°C, other parts of the district witnessed even colder conditions. The National Defence Academy (NDA) registered the lowest at 8.9°C, followed by Haveli at 9.1°C. In contrast, areas like Magarpatta, Lonavala, Purandar, Baramati, Pashan, and Koregaon Park reported relatively higher temperatures ranging from 10°C to 16°C.
The IMD forecasts that this chilly weather pattern will continue over the next few days. Despite warmer daytime temperatures, the significant nighttime cooling is making the evenings and mornings particularly brisk, leaving residents feeling the winter chill.
