Woman seeks divorce in 40 days after wedding due to ‘this’ reason
In a peculiar case from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, a woman has sought a divorce from her husband only 40 days after their marriage due to his unusual bathing habits. The man, Rajesh, reportedly bathes only once or twice a month, a practice that his wife found intolerable.
According to reports, Rajesh uses Gangajal, holy water from the River Ganga, once a week for purification but refuses to bathe more frequently. This lack of regular hygiene led to significant body odor, which his wife could not tolerate. Despite Rajesh’s efforts to bathe six times over the past month due to his wife’s insistence, the issue persisted.
The situation escalated when the woman approached the family counseling center in Agra. She expressed her inability to continue living with someone who maintained such poor hygiene. The couple’s frequent arguments eventually led the wife to move back to her parents’ home. Her family also filed a dowry harassment complaint with the police, further complicating the situation.
Despite Rajesh’s agreement to improve his hygiene and bathe daily, his wife remained firm in her decision to divorce him. The couple is expected to return to the counseling center for further mediation on September 22.
This case echoes a previous unusual divorce incident in Agra earlier this year. In that case, a woman sought separation from her husband because he failed to bring her favorite snack, Kurkure, a daily request she had made. The trivial nature of both cases highlights the varied and sometimes unexpected reasons behind marital disputes.
While such issues might seem minor to some, they underscore the diverse and personal challenges that can arise in relationships, reflecting how individual preferences and habits can significantly impact marital harmony.
