On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Chaitraly Deshmukh spoke to Namrata Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 5, Pune City Police about her life and career. 

Namrata Patil’s career from clerk in Railways, to manager in SEBI and being topper in MPSC and serving in Police department has not been easy. Filled with several challenges, she chose to chase her dreams and finally achieved it when she ranked first in Maharashtra Public Service Commission examinations.  Despite the hardships, she has been able to balance her work life. 

DCP Namrata Patil is among the few highly qualified police officers, having completed her master in commerce degree, a gold medallist in ICWA and also a law post graduate in the state. 

Namrata Patil’s Dynamic Work Profile : 

DCP Namarata Patil joined the Maharashtra police in 2005 as Deputy Superintendent of Police with Nashik Rural, Served in Ratnagiri district of Khed area as SDPO and also in Raigad district of Khalapur area. Later she was promoted and posted as additional superintendent of police in Buldhana in 2012. Between 2013 till 2017 she worked in National Investigation Agency (NIA) under Central deputation for four years and investigated cases related to ISIS and other handled banned and suspicious terror outfits. She also worked as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the newly formed Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate and served in DC Coastal Security in SID, Mumbai. She has been actively serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) area which covers Mundhwa, Hadapsar, Marketyard, Bibwewadi, Wanawadi and Kondhwa police stations areas.

DCP Namrata Patil said, “Knowledge and experience gained in life never goes waste. I served as a clerk in railway, later as Manager in SEBI and now in Police. These roles have helped me a lot, not only for becoming what I am today but have groomed in a very different way. I feel, learning never stops. So, keep on learning and fight against your struggles till you succeed. There is no success in life without failure, look for opportunities and go for it.”    

About the jurisdiction DCP Namarata Patil said, “The area is very vast and among the most challenging ones. This area has both rural and urban touch. But it is interesting to work for the betterment of people from varied backgrounds.’
