Young Boy Trapped After Opening Lift Door Midway in Ghaziabad Tower, Rescued via CCTV Alert
Ghaziabad, May 26: A young boy was rescued after getting trapped inside a lift at Media Majestic Tower in Kaushambi, Ghaziabad, following a mid-ride emergency halt caused by his attempt to open the lift doors. The incident, captured on CCTV, highlighted the critical role of surveillance in ensuring prompt action.
According to eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage, the boy—who was temporarily staying with a family on the building’s fourth floor—entered the elevator alone and pressed the button for his floor. However, during the ride, he reportedly attempted to manually open the lift doors, causing the elevator to stop between floors.

Footage shows the boy becoming visibly distressed, crying and calling for help as he struggled to close the door. After several tense minutes, he noticed the CCTV camera inside the elevator and turned toward it, silently pleading for help—an act that proved pivotal in his rescue.
Building maintenance staff monitoring the live camera feed quickly noticed the situation and alerted a technician. The technician reached the elevator, manually opened the doors, and safely rescued the child. He was unharmed but clearly shaken by the ordeal.
Society officials confirmed that the elevator was in proper working condition and the stoppage occurred due to the boy’s interference with the door mechanism. However, the incident has sparked serious concern among residents about elevator safety protocols.

“How could a child open a lift door mid-ride? That raises serious safety concerns,” said one resident. Others echoed the need for additional safety measures such as child-lock mechanisms and better adult supervision in common areas.
While the timely response and safe outcome brought relief, the episode has prompted renewed discussions about child safety in high-rise residential complexes. Residents are now advocating for stricter lift safety protocols and improvements to surveillance response systems.
