A Zomato delivery agent has become a hot topic online after he courageously navigated the torrential rains in Mumbai to fulfill his delivery responsibilities on foot.

On Wednesday, after his bike broke down, delivery agent Rahat Ali Khan braved the heavy rain to ensure that two orders were delivered without delay.

Following the severe rainfall that hit Mumbai, which caused significant flooding and disrupted local transportation, vehicular and rail services resumed on Thursday. The downpour had left many areas submerged, halting local trains and forcing the rerouting of at least 14 flights.

As residents struggled with waterlogged streets and traffic chaos, many sought shelter from the relentless rain. In contrast, Khan’s dedication to his job has garnered widespread admiration on social media, highlighting his commitment despite the challenging conditions and his bike troubles.

Zomato customer Swati Mittal took to Threads to express her appreciation for Khan’s unwavering dedication.

“We ordered food and Rahat’s bike broke down and that man walked to two different locations and finished his delivery in this heavy rain all drenched. We should really support delivery staff who are on the streets in heavy rains making our lives convenient. It’s a privilege! Thank you Rahat,” said the customer.

Soaked and trudging through ankle-deep water while holding the packages, the delivery man braved the storm to fulfill his responsibilities. Mittal expressed her heartfelt gratitude to him, recognizing her own privilege. She encouraged fellow Mumbaikars, like herself, to lend their support to the food delivery agents who enhance our daily lives.

Mittal shared a screenshot of her Zomato order, revealing that her meal from Goila Butter Chicken was only seven minutes late despite the circumstances. The app included a message indicating the situation: “It’s raining at the restaurant, your delivery partner may drive slower than usual.”

“I tipped him well. But ya I don’t advertise what I do on social media. I rather thank people who do something for me than show how great I am as a human being for being a normal human being. Can’t attach a price tag or a number to his effort,” she added in the comments section.
