Life Is Better In India, Opinion Of A US Woman Leaving in Delhi Goes Viral

A US woman currently in Delhi has expressed why she finds India to be a better place to live.

Recently, there was a trending post online which revolved around the question aimed at all NRIs and asked about what is it that prevents you from returning to India.

The post was quick to grab online attention and received comments that reflected in-depth comparisons of life in India and foreign nations. Many talked about better infrastructure, value for money, safety, high quality of life, better living standards or more liberal people and so on.

Now, a recent news is coming up where a foreign national residing in Delhi highlights India as a better place to live.

Kristen Fischer, originally from America, first traveled to India with her husband in 2017 and made the decision to permanently relocate to New Delhi two years ago.

She took it to Instagram to share her experiences of living in India and abroad.

“It is always the same question, why in the world would I want to leave America and move to India? This well-meaning question often communicates two things.1. India is a lesser place to live and I am worse off for being here. 2. America is a better place to live and I would be crazy to leave. I hope to challenge these two assumptions and show people that I don’t think either of these statements are true. Don’t get me wrong. I love America, I was raised there. I have my family there. It’s a great place but it’s by no means a perfect place. And even places like America have a lot of issues,” said her post.

She perceives America as a society that emphasizes individualism, often leading to social isolation. There seems to be a prevailing attitude of self-reliance, where individuals are less inclined to assist those outside their immediate circle. In contrast, India is vibrant with life, color, culture, and a strong sense of community. The hospitality of its people is remarkable, as they consistently extend their support to others, regardless of their familiarity.

“I think my kids are being set up for a more successful life and future in India. In India, you are never alone. Anywhere you go, there are tons of people. I have met so many Indians living in America who have asked where everybody is. Where are the people? And they have felt very socially isolated and alone living in America.

You can make more money living in the US. And if that’s your only goal in life then maybe you’ll be happy there. But I believe that there is so much more to life than just making money,” she adds in her post.
