12-Year-Old Maharashtra Boy Rishabh Sandbhor Conquers Everest Base Camp Trek
Amravati, Maharashtra, May 15, 2026: 12-year-old Rishabh Sandbhor from Amravati, Maharashtra has successfully completed the demanding Everest Base Camp trek at an altitude of nearly 18,000 feet along with his father Yuvraj Sandbhor.
His father said he is extremely proud and happy about his child’s achievement and still finds it hard to believe that Rishabh successfully completed the Everest Base Camp trek at such a young age.
With temperatures plunging to minus 18 degrees Celsius, this father-son duo undertook the adventurous Himalayan expedition in extremely harsh weather conditions. This journey became more memorable when Yuvraj Sandbhor celebrated his 44th birthday during the trek.
They encountered with difficulties from the beginning like owing to sudden weather disruptions, the team had missed their flights on the first two days resulting in the cancellation of the scheduled acclimatisation period. The acclimatisation period is an important process for adapting to high altitudes and generally considered crucial for such treks.
The trek was successfully completed despite the setbacks, and under the guidance of experienced trek leader and mountaineer Sumit Mandale. He had revised the trekking strategy and aware of the risks involved he ensured the group to maintain a gradual pace covering nearly one kilometre in about 45 minutes. This method helped the trekkers acclimatise naturally during the expedition.
Team head and expedition planner Anand Mali, had discipline, coordination and planning which played a vital role in carefully organising and supervising. The team had completed the Everest Base Camp trek, achieving a 100 percent success rate.
Speaking about the experience, Yuvraj Sandbhor said, “I am very proud of my child. Even now, I still cannot believe he successfully completed the Everest Base Camp trek. But I knew from the beginning that he had the determination to do it. We were very excited for this trek because trekking has been a part of our lives since his childhood.”
Young Rishabh Sandbhor’s achievement has now emerged as an inspiring example of determination, endurance, and adventurous spirit.
