140 Members Of Undri Society Targeted by Defamatory Email Against Woman Resident; Accused Pleads Innocence

Pune: In a shocking incident, a residential society in Kondhwa received an email stating, ‘His wife looks like a porn actress. Did she come today to walk or not?’
Santosh Sonawane, Senior Police Inspector, Kondhwa Police Station, stated that members of a residential society in Kad Nagar, Undri have received a derogatory e-mail. In this case, a 40-year-old woman has filed a complaint at Kondhwa Police Station. Accordingly, the police have registered a case against the accused.
As per information, the accused allegedly defamed the complainant by sending an email to 140 members of the society. However, the accused has denied all the allegations. He states that he is being falsely implicated by some people whom he had disputes with. “On July 8, 2023, I filed a complaint against a person at the Kondhwa Police Station, with a copy forwarded to the Commissioner of Police, Pune. The person was summoned to the Kondhwa Police Station on July 21, 2023. Kondhwa Police documented his complaint and issued a stern warning against the use of foul language towards society women, based on my attached complaint and emails as references. During the flag hoisting event on August 15, I recommended army personnel to hoist the flag as he was dressed in an Indian Armed Forces uniform.”
Giving more details, he said, “I invited a person to say a few words and handed him the microphone. He used this platform to voice his objections and took a vote on who should hoist the flag, which I found insulting. I proceeded with the flag hoisting by inviting a few children and the army personnel. Later that evening, an incident occurred at my residence. A person, accompanied by others, trespassed into my home, verbally abused my wife and me, and threatened us with damaging our reputation. That same person physically assaulted me. We subsequently filed a complaint at the Kondhwa Police Station under sections 323, 504, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.”
He further added, “The person’s wife later filed a complaint, accusing me of using her name in an email. However, the attached email does not mention any names and was primarily directed at a person due to his derogatory remarks against multiple women. Her complaint was based on false information, as no inappropriate language was directed towards her. The false complaint has caused significant mental harassment to my family. I was hospitalized due to stress-related health issues. This incident has caused immense distress, particularly given the ongoing matters related to the conveyance deed, where I am advocating for our society’s interests.”
The Kondhwa police are further investigating the case.
