BJP Yuva Morcha Pune Holds ‘Tala Thoko’ Protest Against Koregaon Park Restaurant for Tricolour Disrespect

Pune: On August 13, 2023, the police registered an FIR in connection with the disrespect of the tricolour (Indian flag) at Hotel Freak – Super Club in Koregaon Park at an event held at the restaurant. However, the accused has not been apprehended, and no further action has been taken.

Later, a strong demand was made for the arrest of all individuals involved in the case, including the hotel owner. Additionally, it is being demanded that the hotel should remain closed until both the owner and the accused issue a public apology. Also, demand has been made to put an end to all illegal business activities carried out by pub operators.

To express their opposition, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) will organize a ‘tala thoko’ protest at The Super Club, Koregaon Park Annex. The protest is being led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Pune City President Dhiraj Ghate, Yuva Morcha State General Secretary Sushil Mengde, and Pune City Yuva Morcha President Raghavendra Bapu Mankar. Other officials, including Yuva Morcha Cantonment Constituency President Ashish Surve, City General Secretary Omkar Kedari, and OBC Yuva Morcha President Tushar Raikar, were present during the protest.

Members of the Bhartiya Janta Party Yuva Morcha added, ”The national flag holds immense significance for us, and if the hotel reopens tomorrow, we will come again.”  Omkar Kedari, BJP Yuva Morcha General Secretary, highlighted, ”The insult to the flag occurred at a party in a hotel in Koregaon Park. Although a complaint has been lodged, the accused remains unarrested. We will protest by closing the hotel by chain and lock, preventing it from reopening until both the accused and the hotel owner issue a public apology.”
