Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner and administrator Vikram Kumar on March 22 announced that the civic body shall buy 200 more electric buses from the Central Government’s funds under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).

He said, “PMC will be allocated the funds under NCAP initiative for the next five years. The first phase of grants will be received in the year 2022-23 and 2023 – 24. These e buses will ply in the narrow lanes of the city. Each bus would cost Rs 1.20 crores.”

It was Vikram Kumar’s first media interaction after he took over the charge at PMC as an administrator. He also stated that Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will buy 100 such buses.

Kumar also stressed on saying that there are still many people who have not been vaccinated. Kumar took a stern action against encroachment free Pune and has been conducting actions against various encroachments on footpaths, side and front margins.

He stated that by May 15 PMC will ensure that all road works and nullah cleaning works are completed. On the action against the encroachments in front and side margins, he said, “It has been observed that all illegal use of land has been made by the private owners. But such properties will face severe action from PMC. “
