A week after the Pune based Bharatiya Janata Party corporator moved to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Bombay High court against the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) for water crisis in Sus and Mhalunge village of city is facing flak from opposition party leaders.

Since the election dates are postponed, other political parties are raising their issues in the move taken by Amol Balwadkar. On Monday, March 21, 2022 Amol Balwadkar released a video in which he condemned the cheap politics laid down by the National Congress Party (NCP) Pune members and other opponents.

Balwadkar said, “It is sad to hear that after I approached the court for citizen grievances and raised their concern before the judiciary it seems to have occured a major issue to the opposition party. I have full faith in the judiciary. Citizen’s basic fundamental rights of water have been violated and people are struggling to get basic need of their life. The opponent has not hurted me, infact it has hurt the emotions of the people who are facing the issue and defaming me with cheap tactics. I have full faith in my citizens and know that they are with me. I have all the proofs to show from the citizens.”

He went on, “I feel pity on the opponents who have failed to understand the issue. Their own societies are unable to arrange water supply effectively, whereas I have managed to give free water tanker as well as water storage facilities.”

He added, “In past such an opponent has not only brought hindrance in my work but when I initiated a budget of Rs 90 lakh which was sanctioned for my area for the same work was stopped. I have approached PMC to give me the justification of such stop work but I have failed to get any positive response. I have also mentioned this incident in my petition. They have not stopped me from working but this showcases how insensitive and inhuman they are. As they forcefully pulled water from the citizens which is their right.”

Sus and Mhalunge area among the 23 villages which were included in PMC in July 2021. Earlier these areas were under PMDRA.

In this regard, a PIL has been filed in Bombay High court by Amol Balwadkar by his lawyer Satya Muley. Hearing of this petition has been adjourned till next week.
