23-Year-Old Woman Finds Hidden Camera in Bathroom Bulb Holder, Landlord Arrested for Secret Filming
Hyderabad: In a disturbing case of privacy invasion, a young couple renting a house in Hyderabad’s Vengalrao Nagar was shocked to uncover a hidden camera planted inside their bathroom light bulb. The device, allegedly installed by their landlord, has led to his arrest and sparked widespread outrage in the neighborhood.
The incident unfolded earlier this month when a 23-year-old woman, living with her husband, encountered a simple household inconvenience—the bathroom bulb stopped working. On October 4th, she informed her landlord, Ashok Yadav, about the issue. In response, he sent an electrician to fix it. What initially seemed like a routine repair would later unravel into something far more sinister.
Fast forward to October 13th, the woman’s husband noticed a loose screw in the bulb holder and decided to take a closer look using a flashlight. To his horror, he discovered a hidden camera tucked inside the fixture, cleverly concealed to record bathroom activity.
Shocked and enraged, the couple confronted their landlord. Yadav, however, denied any knowledge of the device and allegedly tried to silence the matter by warning them not to inform the police. His attempt to cover up the crime only strengthened the couple’s resolve.
Choosing to stand up for their rights, the couple filed a complaint with the Mathuranagar police. A formal investigation was launched, and a case was registered against both Ashok Yadav and the electrician, identified as Chintu. Police acted swiftly and arrested Yadav. Meanwhile, Chintu is currently on the run, and law enforcement teams have been dispatched to track him down.
Authorities have seized the hidden camera, and a forensic team is now examining the recorded footage to understand the extent of the privacy breach. The possibility of additional victims or recordings is part of the ongoing investigation.
This incident is not an isolated case in Telangana. In a previous episode from Sangareddy district, young women living in a private hostel in Kistareddypet discovered a spy camera embedded inside a phone charger. The hostel warden, Maheshwar, was held responsible and arrested. The repetition of such incidents has raised serious concerns about surveillance abuse and the urgent need for stricter tenant protection laws.
As the Hyderabad community reels from this breach of trust, residents and advocacy groups are calling for stronger checks on landlords and rental accommodations. The case has not only sparked fear but also ignited conversations about privacy, consent, and digital surveillance in domestic spaces.
