The incident occurred late at night when the victim, identified as Diksha Gopal Parwadkar, was returning home from work with her colleague, 26-year-old Arunkumar. Police have taken the accused, 22-year-old Darius Myles Dias, into custody. He is reportedly the son of a businessman and was driving a newly purchased Mini Cooper at the time of the accident.

According to officials, a case has been registered under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to causing death by negligence. Preliminary alcohol testing conducted on the driver returned negative results. However, blood samples have been collected and sent for detailed examination to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the accident. The incident has once again raised concerns over speeding and road safety, particularly involving high-end vehicles in tourist-heavy regions like Goa.

As the investigation progresses, further details are expected to emerge based on forensic reports and eyewitness accounts.
