318 Objections Filed Against Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Draft Ward Structure; Hearings From September 5 To 12
Pune News: PCMC Citizens Can Submit Objections On Draft Voter List Until November 22
Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has received 318 objections and suggestions regarding its recently published draft ward structure. The deadline for submitting objections was September 4, as informed by Assistant Commissioner of the Election Department, Avinash Shinde.
Hearings on these objections will be conducted by Principal Secretary Pravin Darade, who has been appointed as the authorized officer by the state government. The hearings will take place between September 5 and September 12.
Ward No. 10 received the highest number of objections — 110 in total. The draft ward structure, featuring 32 wards with four members each, was announced on August 22. Maps of the draft were made available on the corporation’s official website and displayed at the municipal headquarters.
While only 42 objections were received by September 3, the number surged to 318 by the final deadline. Former mayor Mangala Kadam was among those who submitted suggestions.
Interestingly, the election department rejected bulk submissions of objections. A political party worker from Ward No. 2 had brought around 900 objections packed in two bags, but officials refused to accept them, citing rules that allow only one objection per person or a few per application.
Following the hearings, the final ward structure will be published, after which the reservation process will be undertaken.
