Pune, May 13, 2025: A total of 341 pending electricity bill-related legal cases amounting to Rs 1.45 crore have been resolved in the recently held National Lok Adalat organized in Pune. This includes two power theft cases in which Rs 59.27 lakh was recovered as electricity dues and settlement charges.

The National Lok Adalat, organized by the District Legal Services Authority, addressed pending legal matters related to unpaid electricity bills under the jurisdiction of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) Pune division. 

The highest number of cases—266 cases worth Rs 65.25 lakh—were from the Rasta Peth division, followed by 42 cases worth Rs 43.65 lakh from Pune Rural division, and 33 cases worth Rs 36.67 lakh from the Ganeshkhind division. In total, 670 cases involving dues of Rs 1.45 crore were resolved.

Additionally, under Section 135, two power theft cases were settled, resulting in the recovery of Rs 59.27 lakh through bill payments and compromise charges.

Officials from MSEDCL, including Acting Legal Advisor Dinkar Tidke, Legal Officers Neetal Hase, Ganesh Satpute, and Anjali Chougule, along with engineers, accounts officers, and staff participated actively in the Lok Adalat proceedings.
