After Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations, now talks of another Municipal Corporation have been circulating in the socio-political circle. 

A Municipal Corporation will be established of Chakan Municipal Council, Alandi Municipal Council, Rajgurunagar Municipal Council as well as villages in their adjoining areas. The state government has sought a report from Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao with feedback on this.

A large number of villages have been included in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations and the boundaries of both Municipal Corporations have been increased. Therefore, it will not be appropriate to include more villages under PMC & PCMC. There is a demand to create a new municipal corporation of Chakan Municipal Council, Alandi Municipal Council and Rajguru Municipal Council as well as the villages in their adjacent areas.

It is under the consideration of the state government to form an independent Municipal Corporation by including Chakan, Alandi and Rajguru municipal councils and surrounding villages. For that, the total area, population, boundaries etc of Chakan Municipal Council, Alandi Municipal Council and Rajguru Municipal Council as well as their surrounding villages should be taken into consideration.

Regarding the establishment of an independent Municipal Corporation of the three municipal councils, Chief Executive Officer of Pune Zilla Parishad, Pune District Collector, Commissioner of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, PCMC & PMC Commissioners and the officials of Chakan, Alandi, Rajguru municipal councils must submit report to the state government and the state government has requested for a report from the divisional commissioner Saurabh Rao.
