In a significant move towards sustainability, the State Transport (ST) division in Pune is set to undergo a transformative shift, mirroring the success of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMP).

Five prominent bus depots in Pune, namely Swargate, Indapur, Manchar, Alandi, and Sangvi, are slated to become fully electric, aligning with PMP’s pioneering steps in electrifying its infrastructure.
Following in the footsteps of PMP, ST is embracing a modernization drive, with plans to electrify not only its depots but also its operations and passenger services. This ambitious endeavor marks a turning point for ST, signaling its commitment to sustainability and innovation.

The initiative includes the electrification of a total of 251 e-trains in the Pune section, with Swargate depot leading the charge with 137 e-trains, followed by Sangvi (30), Indapur (29), Manchar (27), and Alandi (28). Additionally, the fleet will see the introduction of 44 E-Shivneri buses, 20 E-Shiwai buses, totaling 64 e-buses, further reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly transportation options.

The procurement process for establishing the e-depot has been successfully completed, with MSR E-trans Prof. Ltd. entrusted with the task.
A recent agreement solidified this partnership, paving the way for the formation of a joint committee comprising company and ST officials. This committee will oversee the selection and inspection of warehouse locations, laying the groundwork for the swift establishment of the e-depot.
