Pune Metro's Barricades To Remain In Mandai During Ganeshotsav
9 August, 2024
The barricades will remain in Mandai and Shivaji Road areas during Ganeshotsav festivities because the Metro station and entry-exit points construction are not expected to finish by next month. So, Ganeshotsav starts in the first week of September. The Maha Metro officials are trying to complete as much work as possible before the festival, but they’re not sure if the barricades will be taken down by then.
A Metro official mentioned, “We have assigned a large workforce to finish the pending tasks. However, we can’t guarantee completion before the first week of September. Delays might occur, especially if there are heavy rains.”
Local shopkeepers in Mandai were hopeful for relief before August but now anticipate that the construction will continue for at least another two months, if not longer.
Ankush Awale, a vendor in the area, expressed that the traffic disruptions have been ongoing for three years since the Metro project started. Additionally, Vinay Shukla, a resident of Bopodi, mentioned that commuters would find it more convenient once the Metro line is extended to Mandai.
