Pune: PMPML Suspends Seven Staffers For Ticket Evasion And Misbehavior 

In a bid to address its growing operating deficit, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has taken stern action against erring staff members. In July, the transport body suspended seven conductors and one driver for various offenses, including ticket evasion, misbehavior with passengers, and disrespecting seniors.

According to PMPML administration, six conductors were suspended for extorting ticket money, while one conductor was suspended for rude behavior with passengers. A driver was also suspended for disrespecting seniors. The suspensions come after 17 cases were reported to the PMPML in July, with nine cases still under investigation.

The PMPML’s operating deficit has been increasing annually, forcing the transport body to rely on municipal corporations to make up for the shortfall. To improve the situation, the PMPML administration has vowed to take strict action against staff misconduct.

By suspending erring staff members, the PMPML aims to streamline its operations, reduce losses, and provide better services to passengers. The transport body’s efforts to address its financial woes and improve accountability are a step in the right direction towards ensuring a more efficient and passenger-friendly public transportation system in Pune.”
