Pune city is experiencing severe traffic congestion and increasing encroachments, particularly on Nagar Road. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar addressed these issues during his visit to Vadgaon Sheri as part of his public outreach campaign. Pawar announced that the state cabinet will soon meet to discuss solutions for the traffic problems on Nagar Road, including the removal of the BRT system. Additionally, a new proposal to build a double-decker flyover from Viman Nagar to Shirur under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model is set to be decided.

Pawar, who interacted with residents of Viman Nagar, officials, and social organizations, highlighted the pressing issues raised by locals. The area faces extreme traffic congestion, with travel times extending up to 30 minutes for short distances. Encroachments on footpaths and roadways have exacerbated the problem. Residents also reported frequent alcohol consumption in public spaces and poor waste management, with garbage not collected regularly and stray dogs becoming a nuisance.

Further concerns included the need for a tax exemption for 500-square-foot homes in Pune, similar to Mumbai. Residents of Brahma Sun City specifically mentioned problems with stray dogs.
