A new Biodiversity Park is being developed in Talwade, Pimpri-Chinchwad, adding to the city’s natural attractions. Spread over approximately 70 acres, the project will help restore the local ecosystem. The foundation stone for this ambitious project was laid virtually by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister, Ajit Pawar.

The initiative was led by Mahesh Landge, BJP MLA from the Bhosari constituency, who actively pursued the project with the municipal corporation and state government. Funds for the park will be made available through the state government’s “Mazi Vasundhara” scheme, as well as from central government resources.

Supporters of MLA Mahesh Landge and local residents of Talwade performed a symbolic foundation-laying ceremony at the proposed site. Attendees included Gopal Bhalekar, Shantaram Bhalekar, Ramesh Bhalekar, Sambhaji Bhalekar, Dattatraya Nakhate, Bandu Bhalekar, and many others from the local community.

Pimpri-Chinchwad has already been recognized at the state level, winning the first prize under the “Mazi Vasundhara” initiative. The development of the park will involve an estimated investment of ₹10 crore, with additional funds expected from the central government’s Special Assistance Scheme.

About the Biodiversity Park

The park, spanning approximately 70 acres, will feature indigenous tree plantations to create a forest-like habitat. It will serve as a sanctuary for animals and birds, with facilities such as soil conservation zones, thematic tree plantations, bird nest walls, parking areas, golf carts and cycling stations, three entrance plazas, an amphitheater, souvenir shops, workshops, cafés, a butterfly garden, wetlands, an orchidarium, and theme parks. Other amenities include pathways, lighting, picnic spots, waste and water management systems, and a public address system. This state-of-the-art park is expected to enhance Pimpri-Chinchwad’s natural beauty.

Landge said, “The goal of developing this park is to conserve and sustain the biodiversity in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region, ensuring that the natural ecosystem is preserved for future generations. We want the next generation to enjoy clean air and the beauty of nature. I am delighted that the foundation of this ambitious project has been laid today. I believe this park will attract visitors from around the world.”
