Maharashtra Directs PMRDA To Draft Plans for Eight New Town Planning Schemes Along Pune Ring Road
PUNE: Maharashtra has instructed the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to prepare draft plans for eight new town planning (TP) schemes covering 912 hectares along the proposed ring road. This directive was issued just a day before the state assembly elections’ model code of conduct came into effect on October 16.
Although six earlier proposed TP schemes by the PMRDA, covering over 1,000 hectares, are still awaiting state approval, the government has prioritized new developments. The latest schemes span villages such as Dhamane, Godumbre, Darumbre, Salumbre, Sangavade, Nere, and Bavdhan Budruk, and will be executed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, acquiring 9.5 hectares for the ring road project.
PMRDA has been given a nine-month deadline to draft these plans. However, residents and civic activists, like Sudhir Kulkarni, are concerned about delays in approval for the previous six TP schemes, which have left over two lakh citizens without essential infrastructure like roads and water supply.
Newly Proposed Schemes: Dhamane (87.83 ha), Dhamane (122.90 ha), Godumbre (103.12 ha), Darumbre-Salumbre (141.53 ha), Sangavade (141.50 ha), Nere (126.94 ha), Bavdhan Budruk (119.77 ha and 68.70 ha).
