Ahead of the Diwali festive season, the Aeromall authority at Pune International Airport (PIA) has announced a revised pick-up policy to manage the expected influx of passengers. This includes a potential extension of the direct pick-up service from the new Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) to the Aeromall parking zone for all passengers, easing congestion during the busy period.

Last month, Aeromall introduced a direct pick-up service from NITB for pregnant women, senior citizens, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD), offering them transportation directly to their drop-off points. “With the anticipated increase in passenger traffic during the festival, this service may be extended to all passengers,” said YS Rajput, vice-president of Aeromall.

Rajput noted that while no significant spike in passenger numbers has been observed yet, the current occupancy rate of around 90% could reach full capacity during Diwali. In response, more staff have been deployed at help desks outside Terminal 2 to monitor congestion. Aeromall has also made modifications to its lifts to reduce waiting times, disabling call buttons on upper floors for lifts mainly used by drivers and staff, freeing them up for passengers.
