Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani recently shared that he is contemplating several projects connected to the Munna Bhai storyline.
The highly anticipated third installment of the Munna Bhai MBBS series has been creating excitement for a considerable period, with main stars Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi often sharing their eagerness to return to their cherished roles.
Rajkumar Hirani, a highly acclaimed and successful director in the Hindi film industry, attended the SCREEN unveiling in Mumbai on Friday.
At the event, Hirani talked about his initial success, Munna Bhai MBBS, and suggested that a third installment in the franchise could be on the horizon.
While speaking to the audience, the director revealed that he is currently developing not just one or two, but five different scripts.
The Munna Bhai series, by director Rajkumar Hirani, features Sanjay Dutt in the role of Munna Bhai and Arshad Warsi as Circuit. Following the triumph of the initial two films, Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) and Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006).
Warsi had earlier said that Hirani wouldn’t commence a project until he is 100 percent certain about the script.
“I have five half-finished scripts for Munna Bhai. I spent six months on a script, reached the interval, and it just wouldn’t go beyond that. There is a Munna Bhai LLB, Munna Bhai Chal Base, Munna Bhai Chale Amreeka, and more. The most important factor is that the next installment has to get better than the previous films. But now, I have a unique idea. Of course, over the course of 100 years of cinema, everything has been said. But yeah, I am working on that idea,” said Hirani.
Sanjay Dutt who portrayed the lead role of Munna Bhai in both the films, is eager for the third one, adds Hirani. He jokingly commented that if the third part is not made, Dutt may threaten me.
