New Zealand Set for 2nd Test Against India in Pune After Historic Win
The New Zealand cricket team is currently touring India for a three-match Test series, with the second Test set to begin on October 24 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, Pune. The team arrived in Pune on October 21, preparing for what will be their first-ever Test at this venue. New Zealand has previously played two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) at Gahunje, losing both, and is still in search of their first win at this ground.
New Zealand’s tour has already made headlines after their remarkable 8-wicket victory over India in the first Test at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This win marks New Zealand’s first Test victory in India in 36 years, with their last triumph dating back to 1988 in Mumbai. The historic win has created a significant opportunity for New Zealand to claim their first-ever Test series win on Indian soil.
To secure the series, New Zealand needs to win or draw at least one of the remaining two matches. Meanwhile, India, led by Rohit Sharma, must win both the remaining Tests to take the series.
India’s squad for the 2nd and 3rd Tests includes top players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant, alongside emerging talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel.
