Buying gold and silver jewelry or coins is a well-known Hindu tradition on Dhanteras. It is believed that acquiring these precious metals on this auspicious day brings wealth and prosperity to the home.

2. Utensils  

Purchasing new kitchen utensils on Dhanteras is seen as a sign of increasing prosperity and abundance in the household. However, many astrologers advise against buying utensils made of iron. Steel is also considered inauspicious since it is a type of iron. Instead, opt for copper or brass utensils. Additionally, it is important to note that the utensils should not be empty when brought home. According to astrologers it is believed that one should not take empty utensils or pots into the house. So fill your empty utensils with water before bringing them inside.
