Toddler Attacked by Stray Dogs in Pune – Local Residents Demand Urgent PMC Action
A 20-month-old girl named Aarohi Pankaj Yadav suffered severe injuries in a stray dog attack in Pune’s Lohegaon area. The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred while Aarohi was playing in an open area near her home.
The attack was sudden, as a pack of stray dogs approached Aarohi. Despite her attempts to fend them off, one dog lunged at her. As she tried to move away, another dog attacked from the front while two more approached from behind. The dogs bit her on the hands, legs, back, and face.
Aarohi’s screams alerted her parents, who rushed out of their house. They managed to chase the dogs away, but by then, Aarohi had sustained severe injuries. She was immediately taken to a private hospital in Hadapsar, where she is currently receiving treatment.
This incident has raised serious concerns among the local residents about the increasing stray dog menace in the area. The residents have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to take immediate and permanent action to control the stray dog population and prevent such attacks in the future.
Stray dog attacks have become a recurring issue in Pune’s urban and suburban areas, prompting calls for better management and stricter measures. In light of this attack, the local community hopes for swift intervention to ensure the safety of children and residents.
The PMC has yet to respond to the demands, but the incident highlights an urgent need for action to address the growing stray dog problem in the city.
