No School Bus Service On November 19 Due To Maharashtra Assembly Elections
School bus services in Pune will come to a halt on November 19 and 20, causing disruptions for students in Maharashtra, due to the upcoming polls. The decision, made by school bus operators, follows instructions from regional transport offices (RTO) to requisition tourist and school buses for election duties.
The School Bus Owners Association of Maharashtra (SBOA) announced that buses won’t operate on these days due to their involvement in election-related transportation. Anil Garg, SBOA president, stated while talking to media that buses will be handed over to RTO from the night of November 18 for poll purposes. This move will impact working parents who rely on school bus transport.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in a single phase on November 20, with results announced on November 23 . Voting for all 288 seats of the Maharashtra legislative assembly will be held, with 234 seats under general category, 29 reserved for Scheduled Castes, and 25 for Scheduled Tribes.
Parents will need to make alternative arrangements for their children’s transportation on November 19. The suspension of school bus services may cause inconvenience, but it’s essential for the successful conduct of the elections.
