Pune: After a significant victory in the recent Assembly elections, the Maha Yuti has emerged as the dominant coalition, with BJP securing the highest number of seats. As the 14th Assembly’s term concludes today, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is preparing to submit his resignation. Following this, the process of forming the new government will begin, with three names from Pune already confirmed for cabinet positions. Other aspirants have begun a fierce competition to secure a spot in the new cabinet.

In the recent elections, the Maha Yuti secured 18 out of the 21 Assembly seats in Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the surrounding district, while only two seats were won by the Maha Vikas Aghadi. With the formation of a new government confirmed, several potential ministers from BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) are vying for a place in the cabinet.

Notable names from Pune include Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Chandra Kant Patil from Kothrud, and Dilip Walse-Patil, all considered strong candidates for ministerial positions. Other possible names include Madhuri Misal from Parvati, Bhimrao Tapkir from Khadakwasla, and Sunil Kamble from Pune Cantonment. Mahesh Landge from Pimpri-Chinchwad and Rahul Kul from Daund are also being discussed for potential cabinet roles.
