Ganja Found in Pune University Hostel, Two Students Booked
Pune, December 6, 2024 – Ganja was discovered in a room at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) hostel, leading to the filing of a police case against two students. The incident has raised concerns about the security and discipline within the university’s hostel premises.
According to reports, a complaint was lodged by a student who observed the use of ganja in a room at Hostel No. 5. Acting on the complaint, the university’s security personnel inspected the site and found two students consuming ganja. The students were handed over to the police along with the complainant for further investigation. Subsequently, the university administration registered a case against the accused students at the Chaturshringi Police Station.
The hostel warden reported the matter to the police, and further action is being taken by law enforcement authorities. The accused students are not officially enrolled in the university’s hostel system.
Second Incident in Three Months
This is the second instance of ganja-related activity reported in the university hostel within three months. A similar case was uncovered earlier, leading to protests by political groups and student organizations demanding stricter measures and better security.
The recurring incidents have spotlighted the need for stronger surveillance and preventive measures to ensure a safe environment for the university community.
