A Marvel in Kanyakumari: Glass Bridge to Connect Thiruvalluvar Statue and Vivekananda Memorial
The Kanyakumari Thiruvalluvar statue is marking its silver jubilee with grand celebrations from today, thanks to the Tamil Nadu government. Chief Minister MK Stalin will inaugurate a sleek glass fiber bridge valued at Rs 37 crore, which will connect the Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial to the impressive 133-foot-tall Thiruvalluvar statue. This bridge is a significant development, as it will enable tourists to reach the statue even during rough seas and low water levels.
Measuring 77 meters in length and 10 meters in width, the bridge is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 37 crore. It incorporates advanced technology to ensure durability against corrosion and the strong sea winds typical of the area. Currently, tourists wishing to visit these landmarks must rely on ferry services, making two trips to reach both sites. However, once the bridge is operational, visitors will have the convenience of walking across it, enjoying stunning sea views while easily accessing both monuments.
