Pune: Property tax remains a critical revenue source for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), funding vital development projects across the city. To meet the property tax collection target for the financial year 2024-25, the PMC has intensified efforts to recover dues from defaulters.

As part of this initiative, five dedicated teams have been formed since December 2, 2024, to visit residential and non-residential properties daily and recover pending taxes. So far, these teams have successfully collected arrears amounting to ₹71,41,85,393.

Despite these efforts, many citizens and businesses have shown little inclination to clear their dues. Consequently, starting January 1, 2025, the PMC will launch a more stringent measure. Five central recovery teams, each consisting of a plumber, three laborers, and divisional and ward inspectors, will begin disconnecting water connections of defaulting properties.

These water connections will only be restored once the outstanding property tax amounts are paid in full. The PMC appeals to all property owners, both residential and commercial, to promptly clear their dues and avoid disconnection. Cooperation in this regard will help the civic administration achieve its revenue collection goals.
