Pune, January 6, 2025: A passenger traveling from Pune’s Lohegaon Airport to Hyderabad was caught carrying 28 cartridges in his bag. The airport security team discovered the ammunition during routine baggage screening and promptly handed the individual over to the police.

The arrested passenger has been identified as Deepak Sitaram Kate (32), a resident of Sarati, Indapur, Pune district. Preeti Bhosale, a security officer from IndiGo Airlines, filed a complaint with the Airport Police Station.

According to the police, during a luggage inspection on January 3 around 10:45 AM, the metal detector flagged Kate’s bag. Upon further examination, two magazines and 28 cartridges were found inside. When questioned, Kate refused to provide any information regarding the ammunition.

The police are investigating why the passenger was carrying the cartridges, and Sub-Inspector Sandeep Karpe is leading the inquiry.
