Pune: Traffic Congestion Eased At Ashoka Mews Chowk With Experimental Measures By Kondhwa Police
Pune, January 15, 2025: The narrow lane leading from Nawazis Galli to Kondhwa Khurd village, near Sheetal Petrol Pump and Ashoka Mews Chowk, has been a frequent cause of traffic congestion. Traffic jams in this lane would spill over, severely affecting the flow at Ashoka Mews Chowk. To address this issue, the traffic department, in consultation with local residents and shopkeepers, implemented an experimental measure.
As part of this solution, the puncture barricade at the center of Ashoka Mews Chowk was temporarily closed using bamboo and other materials. Citizens heading towards the narrow lane now take a U-turn 30 meters ahead of Ashoka Mews Chowk. This diversion has significantly reduced congestion at the chowk, bringing temporary relief to the area.
The initiative has been met with positive responses, with local residents and shopkeepers expressing satisfaction over the reduced traffic jams.
