A 43-year-old woman suffered a gruesome accident on Sunday afternoon when her electric two-wheeler hit an onion sack that had fallen from a tempo on the Laxminarayan flyover on Pune-Satara Road.

Shalan Vaibhan Selukar, a housewife, was riding her two-wheeler with her 10-year-old son as pillion rider when the accident occurred around 3 pm. The tempo, loaded with 50kg onion sacks, was heading towards Swargate, while Selukar was on her way to Camp to buy a yoga mat.

According to senior inspector Nandakumar Gaikwad of Parvati police, Selukar lost balance after her two-wheeler hit the onion sack and fell on her face, resulting in a fracture in her right leg and loss of a tooth. Her son, fortunately, escaped unhurt.

Passers-by rushed Selukar to a private hospital in Bibvewadi, where her condition was reported as stable. The tempo driver, unaware of the accident, continued his journey, leaving behind the onion sack that had caused the mishap.
